rosa and about up. 33 out the door vallejo 34 of them francisco. it really doesn't have the relocated. fog is a factor, something we have not seen for a couple of days now. visibility is about 5 mi. for santa rosa. it is delta for and about know. but deciding to for mendes the interior valleys and their b to 7 mi. as well as concord. i don't think we will see any delays on any flights, as if all is ok. hayward is now down to just 5 mi.. focusing our attention on the temperatures, future cast four highlights the 8:00 hour predominantly in the '40's for most of us. it is solely on the system very stubborn 30's for the easily interior valleys. pylons, 50s and 60s across the board. we will warm up a couple of degrees for your afternoon highs and temperatures are really not too bad as we head into 8:00 p.m. tonight. looking at the highs, you'll like what you see here. it will feel like springtime. los gatos, remember we're in the middle of january and a high as 66 degrees, forever green 63 in sunnyvale. in the east bay with mid to upper 50s. the 29 for castro valley, 56 for alameda. and th

. santa rosa 54. livermore 50. oakland warm at 59. concord currently 52 so we are on that climb upward towards 60 degrees. radar is clear, nothing on cbs 5 hi-def doppler. get used to that. it's going to be that way for a while. also get used to chilly nights. no more freeze warnings or frost advisories. but with clear skies, it's january, long nights, it will be chilly. fairfield at 30, 32 concord and livermore, 29 santa rosa, chilly in san francisco with a low of 43 degrees. but it's all due to a ridge of high pressure. it's not allowing any storm to get within let's say 800 or 900 miles of san francisco and the bay area. look at where the storm track is up toward juno, alaska and it's not coming anywhere close to us soon. so we are just going to monitor where that ridge of high pressure is going. right now it's just off to our west. it's attracting an east wind. it's strong, that offshore wind. as high pressure moves closer slowly the atmosphere will continue to warm up. we'll be dry and mild through the holiday weekend into next week. i don'

in the low to mid-60s. of concord right now, 36. santa rosa, 36, but the humidity level has increased. san francisco, the warm spot at 49. lows down to freezing for concord, san francisco likely staying in the 40s tonight. pacifica, 43. and san jose dropping down to 36. no rain dropping from the sky. cbs 5 doppler is mainly dry. a huge ridge of high pressure, there's been one somewhere over the country over the past month or so, but it hasn't been over the top of us. that's changing. the high is centered very close to us. that'll keep air quality iffy over the next couple days but it will allow the atmosphere to warm up a little more every day. and many of you will likely hit the 60s in the south bay tomorrow. rest of us getting into the 60s over the weekend and staying there well into next week. if you like sunshine, it's your kind of forecast. nights will be clear though. things will be chilly at night. we'll level off in the low 60s, and that poor air quality will stick around into next week. sunnyvale, are 64, hayward, 62. antioch and pittsburgh, 58 for you. downtown san francisco, 57.

and san jose. temperatures falling back down to the 40s for livermore and santa rosa. nothing on the radar now. chopper 5 was up earlier toward pacifica where we'll have surfing competition earlier this weekend. we saw some whales off the coast of pacifica. a cool shot there. maybe the whale was enjoying sunshine throughout the bay area. let's talk about the lack of rainfall. what a change from december to january. santa rosa you had a foot of rainfall in december. so far, halfway through the month, 11% of your average rainfall for january. we are only running at 15% for san francisco. and also 15% for san jose. a lot of snow up in the mountains but that snowpack is creeping back down to normal because the lack of moisture recently. not much will change. another cold night tonight will be below freezing for napa, fairfield at the freezing mark for concord and livermore. redwood city chilly 34 degrees. satellite-radar very easily shows you this high pressure dome because we see clouds around the periphery going clockwise way off to the west

've written about this great deal, how dan has written about it, rosa has written about, simon johnson the great scholar, and others. that what is happening is the reason, one of the reasons we have not clicked as quickly as possible in recovering from the crisis is because the transmission mechanism for monetary policy is dumped out. think of it as sludge on the motor of age. it's very hard to get the pistons to move. we provide the fuel, central bank. it has to be transmitted into the economy. and when i don't have to and sent people to step on the accelerator, to create more jobs, that's a matter of having to write laws, right regulation, right tax incentives and so on. but it has to be transmitted through the banking system. and these banks that were in such deep trouble and controlled so much of the industry's assets have been focused on other things. so they are interfering with the effectiveness as i mentioned in my speech. if you can get people to understand that this is holding back and hurting job creation in our district, then i think you might have a little bit more politic
